Wooden outdoor Games

Bat and Trap is an English Pub Game similar to cricket and is found played in Kent. This Bat and Trap is also a very popular family garden game. It can played with two teams of any number of players on each side  (eight players per side in compitions). Like cricket one team bats while the other fields. The batting side places the hard rubber ball onto the ‘Trap’, a block placed on the ground with a pivoting lever, one end in the air, the other under the ball. The batsman, in one movement hits down on the lever, propelling the ball into the air, hitting it towards the fielders guarding the two scoring posts, placed upto ten yards apart. The batsman is out either if  he/she is caught or the fielder throws the ball hitting the black flap on the block. The Jaques version contains a wooden trap, wooden bat, two wood posts and the rubber ball.
